Important Note for known issues with vSphere 5.5 Update 3b vCenter Server will not be able to manage ESXi 5.5 Update 3b, if you update ESXi before updating vCenter Server to version 5.5 Update 3b. During the Technical Guidance phase, VMware does not offer new hardware support, server/client/guest OS updates, new security patches or bug fixes unless otherwise noted. I’ve tested this on OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.5 and OSX Mavericks GM. vSphere 5.5 End of Technical Guidance and Extended Support Reminder End of Support (EOTG) for vSphere 5.5 is September 19, 2020. Technical Guidance for vSphere 5.5 is available until Septemprimarily through the self-help portal. Hope this saves someone the pain that I went through.
